Dr. Felix Miedaner
Felix Miedaner worked as a Research Associate in our department between 2013 and 2016. After completing his PhD in 2016, he continued working as Academic Councillor in 2017 before he moved to the BG Hospital Group in Berlin. Since 2020, he is Professor for business administration and hospital operation at the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences.
Prof. Dr. Michael Wittland
Assistant Prof. Dr. Sandra Sülz
Assistant Prof. Dr. Sandra Sülz studied Health Economics in Cologne and after her graduation in 2011, she pursued her PhD studies at the Department of Business Administration and Health Care Management. The initial part of her PhD studies were funded by a scholarship granted by the Cologne Graduate School in Management, Economics and Social Science. After becoming a research associate in 2013, she started teaching in the courses related to Health Care Management and completed her PhD studies in 2014. Since January 2015 she is employed in the position of Assistant Professor, field Financial Management and Management Science within the Institute of Health Policy & Management at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Dr. Verena Glöckner (geb. Pick)
In the period of 2008 until 2013 Dr. Verena Glöckner (Pick) worked as a Research Associate for Business Administration and Healthcare Management at the Faculty of Management Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne. She was primarliy involved in the NICU and HSR-NICU studies and in the course decision analysis. Since October 2013 until march 2016 she worked in the administration of hospitals in Essen and Potsdam. Since April 2016 she is being employed at "BG Kliniken - Klinikverbund der gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung gGmbH".
Dr. Christiane Degen
From 2007 until 2010 Dr. Christiane Degen wrote her Ph.D thesis and worked as a research associate at the Department of Business Administration and Health Care Management at the University of Cologne. After 2010 she continued working at the department. Since 2013 she is working as a senior researcher at the Department for University Research and Applied Science of the German Hospital Institute (DKI) in Düsseldorf and simultaneously at the Institute of Occupational and Social Medicine at the Heinrich-Heine University. Her research interests are careers of physicians, working conditions and health of medical professionals, shortage of medical professionals, health services research, health care management and longitudinal data analysis including event history analysis and multilevel analysis.
Prof. Dr. Kristian Foit
Prof. Dr. Kristian Foit was one of the first Research Associates at the Department of Business Administration and Healthcare Management of the University of Cologne since the establishment in 2001. After his postdoctoral thesis in 2005 he worked in a senior accountancy firm in Düsseldorf. Since 2008 he is professor for Corporate Finance and Controlling at the University of Applied Sciences Fresenius.
Dr. Jörg Heil
In 1997 Dr. Jörg Heil completed his masters degree in Economics/International Management at the University of Maastricht. He was one of the first external PhD students at the Department of Business Administration and Healthcare Management of the University of Cologne in the period of 2002 until 2006. Today he works as Strategy Consultant and Account Manager at Deutsche Telekom Group in Bonn.
Prof. Dr. Roman Mennicken
From 2007 until 2011 Prof. Dr. Roman Mennicken has been working for the Department of Business Administration and Health Care Management at the University of Cologne. Additionally, he worked for the research division “Health Economics” at the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI) in Essen over the same period. After finishing his Ph.D. in 2010, he has been an academic visitor at the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. Today, he continues to work for the RWI as a researcher.

Antonio Vera was a Research Associate in our department between 2002 and 2007. Since 2007 he holds a chair for Organization and Human Resource Management at the German Police University in Münster.
Dr. Philipp Warnebier
In the period of 2002 until 2006 Dr. Philipp Warnebier worked as a Research Associate for Business Administration and Healthcare Management at the Faculty of Management Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Cologne. After his postdoctoral thesis he gained experiences as a consultant in Healthcare. Since 2009 he is engaged as a senior consultant in Healthcare and practices apprenticeship at the University of Witten-Herdecke.
